West Penwith Beef Group held its third annual dinner at the Lowenac Hotel, Camborne and included the prizegiving of the Herd Competition, which was judged by the National Beef Association's Bill Harper.

He explained he was very impressed with all the cattle that he saw. When looking at a competitor's herd he marked according to the type of cattle, their genetics, health and welfare, as well as technical records and ability. He then commented on each of the herds and their attributes before handing out the trophies and prizes.

Geoff Hollow, the club chairman, introduced the guest speaker Hugh Eddy from Heamoor who gave a talk on how he came into the sheep-milking industry and the developments of his dairy products.
