Proposed development at Chivenor Cross could provide more than 900 new jobs
A PROPOSED major development near Braunton could provide more than 900 new jobs.
Plans have been submitted to North Devon Council by the Warwickshire-based St Francis Group for an employment-led scheme on land at Chivenor Cross, between the A361 and RMB base.

It offers flexible employment space that can be used in a wide variety of ways and adapted over time to accommodate starter units through to established businesses and headquarters.
The plans also include provision for up to 150 dwellings, offering a choice of type, size and tenure including open market and affordable homes.

A new multi-purpose hub is proposed which could accommodate facilities such as a crèche, small food store, bike hire or café and sandwich bar.
There will also be play areas and informal open space.
Local Plan policy over recent years has indicated a need for employment provision and housing in the Braunton and Wrafton area.
The proposed scheme would connect with existing housing in the area to form a stronger Chivenor community.
The plans include a new roundabout with the A361 and access roads and on-site vehicle, cycle and pedestrian routes.
Also proposed is a new park and ride car park.
Residents have until March 7 to submit their views of the plans to the council.
