Protest was right to be angry at decision

COUNCILLOR Evans claims he was quoted out of context at the anti-privatisation lobby outside the Civic Centre. As the person Cllr Evans aimed his comments at, please allow me to put the discussion into its proper context.

The ruling Labour group has decided to follow the cuts agenda and 120 dedicated council workers, who deliver services to vulnerable adults, are going to be sold to privateers. As Councillor Evans well knows, this can only mean worse wages and worse conditions for those workers. He claims he listens to the views of council workers but he angered the workers gathered there when he said the decision had already been taken.

Councillor Evans appears to be angered that your reporter did not quote every word he uttered but presumably he was pleased your reporter chose not to report that I called him a disgrace.

It is a disgrace that the Labour Party, which was elected to represent the city's working people, is doing the Tories' dirty work and slavishly following the cuts agenda. He may not want to listen to people like me but before long he will have to answer to those who ask the perfectly reasonable question: "what is the point of voting Labour?"

“Cllr Evans seems to have a habit of being "quoted out of context" since he took office.”
