An aggregates business which operates a quarry in West Cornwall has made up to six staff redundant after its parent company went into administration.

Dudman Aggregates (Properties) Ltd, part of the Sussex-based Dudman Group, took over the lease for the Porthoustock Quarry, near St Keverne, in 2007.

Its parent company went into administration last week, with administrators Grant Thornton saying the downturn in construction had impacted on cashflow. Although the aggregates arm itself is not in administration, a spokeswoman for Grant Thornton said that the group's position would impact on the business, resulting in the redundancies.
