Quick fix repairs make no sense

EXPANDING on the topic of 'The City of Ramsackle Roads' – whilst sat in traffic we recently observed a four-man gang attending to a pothole in Beacon Park Road.

Labourer number one shovelling black tarmac-looking grit lumps from lorry. Number two using boot to forcefully break up large solid mass from shovel into hole. Number three stood waiting with small pressure machine. Number four observing.

At no time did we see any adhesive or liquid used to afford the clearly very solid dry infill hope of remaining in place.

It makes no sense for such quick fixes which, apart from being totally ineffective and short-lived, must be demoralising for workmen with any pride in a job well done. Isn't it about time the quality of repairs undertaken were properly monitored?

As a fully paid-up subscriber to the plethora of taxes aimed at road users I I do not believe I'm getting value for money! In these times of limited resources it is essential our contributions to services purchased are used wisely and best value achieved.

I suggest PCC need to focus on the quality and longevity of the road repairs.

“I thought this was covered the other week - these dry fills are temporary "urgent" repairs before they come back at night and do a proper one.

Sadly, its the "coming back and doing a proper one" where things seem to go wrong.”
