When the paramedics arrived they continued to treat the woman at the scene before she was well enough to be transported in the lifeguard truck across the beach to the waiting ambulance, which was parked on the slipway.
She was then taken off for further treatment in hospital.
Paul Gunning, RNLI Lifeguard Supervisor, says the team did a professional job.
He said: "The lifeguards responded really quickly when a member of the public raised the alarm and they were able to provide casualty care almost instantly.
"They then worked alongside the paramedics to ensure the woman was swiftly moved from the far end of the beach to the waiting ambulance.
"It just shows how vital their on-going training is when it comes to responding in a timely manner. We send the lady our best wishes for a speedy recovery.’
Sedgewell Cove is one of 67 beaches that will continue to be covered by RNLI lifeguard teams this weekend.
