Ramblers were pleased to brave the cold after the wet weather
WAKING up on Sunday morning with blue skies together with a forecast from the Met Office for a sunny but cold day, after all the rain we have endured lately you can be sure Teignmouth and Dawlish Ramblers were to be out in force to enjoy what was a promising autumnal day and the group was not to be let down.
Two groups were out: the first to leave headed the nine miles to complete a circular walk from Blackpool, South of Liverton, led by Mike Strickland.

Wrapped up against a cold wind, the group headed off soon to pass over Stover Park golf course on their way to circuit Stover Park lake, with the attraction of all the waterfowl and the autumnal colours of the trees against the hazy blue sky.
This seems idyllic, however, together with the morning frost you had to keep moving to stay warm.

Unfortunately, when off gravel tracks, the order of the day was mud. Making the most of the exercise the group later passed through Ilsington and across Ramshorn Down back to the cars.
The second, larger group headed the 17 miles out to Venford Reservoir to complete a six-mile walk taking in the windswept Holne Moor, Comberstone Tor, lunching in a sheltered sunny spot with views over Venford reservoir, before walking back to the cars in yet more mud, which the three dogs which were accompanying the group thoroughly enjoyed. Not sure about the owners though.
Arriving back at the cars, the group were unanimous in their thanks to Bob and Pat Edgeller for leading the walk on a glorious day.
