Alex Davies made a stunning cut back and pass up Robson's inside on the back straight, joining Doyle to give Somerset a ten-point lead.
The Rebels won six heats in the away leg, three each by Monberg and Doyle. Newcastle cut the ten-point deficit to four by the fourth race, and after three drawn heats, it was down to two points at heat eight.
Three more drawn heats followed until a Monberg-Kyle Newman 5-1 in heat 12.
It was down to two again after heat 14 but a last-race Monberg-Doyle 5-1 secured a place in the final against Ipswich or Edinburgh.
