Record broken
Records were broken at Walford Cross Machinery Sale, near Taunton, when 3,267 lots went under the hammer on a single day.
This compares with last year's record entry of 2,705 lots.
The sale took three full days to prepare on site and weeks of general preparation. It took four sets of auctioneers eight hours to sell. Almost 2,500 potential purchasers registered, resulting in a blistering trade for all on offer, selling to 793 different buyers. Turnover rose by 15 per cent to just over £500,000. Top item was a New Holland 8360 Tractor which sold for £10,000.
The auctioneers were Sedgemoor Auction Centre.
