Reed makes winning debut for Bideford
Bideford have signed Stephen Reed from Tiverton Town and the midfielder made his debut in the 3-2 victory over Taunton Town in the Red Insure Cup on Tuesday night.
Reed lives in Bideford and has previously played as a professional at Torquay United and Yeovil Town. After playing in the Southern League Premier for Weymouth last season, he has lacked regular football at Tiverton.
Bideford already have a number of options in midfield and manager Sean Joyce has challenged Reed to make an impact at the Southern League Premier outfit. "He's got to break into the squad," said Joyce.
"I know the quality he has got. I want to know has he got the heart and the hunger as well? You have got to have that in my team. That's his first 90 minutes in a competitive game for a while and I thought he did well. He's been around, he's got experience."

Starting alongside Richard Groves in a central role, Reed helped Bideford win an entertaining tie. Sean Downing, Rob Farkins and an own goal sent them through to the last 32.
Reed will have a chance to make an impression with captain Matt Hockley away on holiday for two weeks.
Craig Duff will serve a three-match ban after being sent off in stoppage-time against Taunton for kicking an opponent.
Bideford have a busy weekend with away games at Swindon Supermarine in the FA Carlsberg Trophy on Saturday and Redditch United in the league on Monday. Owen Howe will miss the Swindon game through suspension.
Joyce will hope Steve Oliver is available again after the goalkeeper missed the Taunton game with his wife due to give birth. Witheridge goalkeeper Joe Tickle answered a late call to play.
Barnstaple Town will get some respite from their Toolstation Western League slump with an FA Carlsberg Vase tie on Saturday.
Town go to Almondsbury UWE for the first-round match on the back of three defeats in a week, which brought their unbeaten start in the First Division to a crashing halt.
After last week's 2-1 home defeat to Chard Town, Barnstaple lost by the same score at Portishead on Saturday and 5-1 away to Wells City on Tuesday night after goalkeeper Ryan Draper was sent off.
Lee Begg scored twice for Wells and the other goals came from Jamie Howson, Francis Rolli and James Russell. Billy Tucker's penalty made it 3-1.
