The achievements of the 75 fastest-growing companies in Devon and Cornwall were recognised at the launch of a special Western Morning News supplement.

Businesses across a range of sectors who have notched up impressive growth rates in the last four years were ranked in yesterday's Fast Growth 75 supplement.

The 12-page supplement was sponsored by KMPG, Lloyds TSB and Foot Anstey.

Representatives from businesses appearing on the list attended the event where they received certificates to mark their achievements.

It is the second Fast Growth 75 supplement to appear in the Western Morning News, with Exeter-based M Baker Property Services again topping the list, with Plymouth media group Twofour making its Fast Growth debut in second place and Exeter's Stuart Marsh Shoes Ltd in third.

The event was introduced by Western Morning News editor Alan Qualtrough, who praised the efforts of the Westcountry's business community in remaining focused on growth despite difficult trading conditions.

"These are impressive results that have been achieved during the depths of a recession," he said.

"Despite the tough economic climate, businesses have remained focused on growth, proving that businesses in the region are talented, innovative and determined."

Ian Brokenshire, senior partner at KPMG's Plymouth office, encouraged companies on the list to tell customers, suppliers and investors of their success.

"This is about celebrating what's going on in the South West and companies should be proud to be on the list. The region should think of you as wealth creators."
