Residents look set to win Maidencombe lay-by battle
A ROW over parking in Maidencombe looks ready to be resolved in favour of residents asking for restrictions.
Following a 43-signature petition, Torbay Council was asked to put restrictions at the Maidencombe Cross lay-by on Teignmouth Road, Torquay.
Residents complained the lay-by was being used on an almost permanent basis by a 'pink horse box'.
The petition claimed the area was now an 'eyesore' and people where living in the van.

In June the transport working party said it would implement a limited waiting, two hours no return restriction.
But after advertising the changes the council has received counter objections from walkers, saying they use the lay-by to explore the coastal footpath.
It is recommended these pleas to keep the lay-by as it is being ignored when the transport working party meets today.
A report to the committee says there is enough parking for walkers at the nearby Coast and Countryside Trust car park and Maidencombe itself.
The report states: "The proposal will restrict long term parking, creating a turnover of vehicles during the day, while still allowing overnight use of the lay-by facility by vehicles coming from the direction of Teignmouth who need to kill time/rest up, prior to making early deliveries into the Bay area."
Residents said many of the people claiming to be walkers lived 'miles outside Maidencombe' and did not have to put up with the eyesore.
One letter states: "Tell me why somebody who lives a hundred miles or more away and comes for an annual holiday can influence the quality of life of the residents of Maidencombe."
The meeting is due to take place at the town hall at 4pm.
Among the other items being discussed is the Torbay Annual Parking Report for 2011/2012 which sets out the council's objectives as well as its end of year accounts.
