Retailers gear up for loyalty card scheme
Preparations are under way in St Austell for a new loyalty card scheme aimed to boost town centre trade.
The town's council and White River Place shopping centre are backing the initiative, which will launch on October 29.
The St Austell Business Improvement District steering group has also pledged to support the a scheme, if local businesses vote in favour of establishing a BID when a ballot is held in January.
Shops, cafes and restaurants in St Austell are being invited to join the free-to-join scheme, which will give card holders access to exclusive discounts and offers which it is hoped will increase footfall in the town centre and provide an economic uplift for participating retailers.

The loyalty cards will be distributed to shoppers from a stall in White River Place between 10am and 4pm on the launch day, with cards also available to pick up at selected participating retailers and other locations to be announced, on an ongoing basis.
The scheme will be managed by My Loyalty Card Ltd, which has implemented similar schemes in a number of high streets and shopping centres, including Stroud and Swindon. National retail partners for the scheme include Debenhams, McDonalds, Shoe Zone, Specsavers and Subway.
One of the first businesses to sign up to the St Austell scheme is Frankie and Benny's restaurant, which will be offering loyalty cardholders 20% off their bills.
White River Place centre manager Claire Daniel said: "I would encourage as many people as possible to sign up for loyalty card and make the most of the benefits it offers, because in doing so they will also be supporting the wider efforts being made to revitalise St Austell's retail offer."
Shops and local businesses wishing to promote their business through the scheme can find out more by emailing admin@my-loyalty-card.com
