Richard Logan is hoping to benefit from some inside knowledge when Exeter City take on npower League One league leaders Charlton Athletic at St James' Park this weekend.

The Addicks arrive in Devon with former City captain Matt Taylor at the heart of their miserly defence, but Logan hopes that, having spent four years as team-mates, he knows Taylor's game well enough to get the better of him tomorrow.

"For me personally, it helps to know," Logan said. "I know he likes heading the ball, so we need to try and move him around a bit, peel off him a bit and get him out his comfort zone, because he doesn't like running the channels.

"It will be nice to see Matty Taylor back, but I won't be talking to him too much during the game. Hopefully I can be a nuisance to him, if selected.

"The main thing is to go and get the three points, though. We usually play well against the stronger teams and hopefully we can raise our performance because, in the last few weeks, we haven't played to the best of our abilities. We haven't lost, but we want to go out and put on a good show for the fans."

However, while Logan is well aware of Taylor's weaknesses, he knows his strengths as well. It was those characteristics that got him a lucrative move to Charlton and Logan has the utmost respect for Taylor, who has been a virtual ever-present since his move to The Valley.

"He has been great," Logan said. "Obviously, there is a bit of pressure going to a club like Charlton, but he has been one of their most consistent players and done really well. But hopefully he has a stinker and we get three points."

City remain undefeated so far in 2012 and they are yet to concede a goal. However, goal scoring has proved to be a problem, with Exeter's return of 24 goals from 27 games the joint-worst in the division. It is something Logan is keen to improve on.

"It is quite tight down there, a few teams won the other day, so everyone is still in with a shout," he said. "We are not pulling away fast and we need to get a few wins and pull away. We keep drawing games and points are not enough, we need to start winning games, really.

"There are a lot of positives though, we haven't lost in 2012 and we have kept a lot of clean-sheets, but, as I say, we need to try and start taking our chances.

"We had a few chances on Saturday, I should have scored mine, Jake [Taylor] had one, Flynny [John O'Flynn] had a chance, but we are getting in the right places. Hopefully, they will start going in for us as the defence have been doing brilliantly for us with the clean-sheets. I think we deserve and need to get a few goals now. We are defending really well but, at this level, you don't get many chances, so, when you do get them, you have to take them."

Although he was largely overlooked at the start of the campaign, Logan has enjoyed a run in City's side of late and he has started each of the past four matches. Now he wants to stay in the team and earn a new deal for next season.

"I have been doing OK and we haven't lost since I have been back in, and, for me personally, it has been good to get a couple of goals and get back out there," he said.

"I remember saying I didn't think I will score this season, but it's nice to get my chance. I have got four [goals now] but I want to try and stay in the team and try and get to double figures by the end of the season now. That's my aim."
