Road blocked as lorry wedged next to house
A road through a Devon village was blocked for several hours yesterday after a large lorry became wedged between a house and a wall.
The emergency services were called to East Ball Hill, in Hartland, North Devon, amid reports that the driver was trapped.
Firefighters arrived to find the driver, who was unhurt, had managed to free himself from the lorry although the vehicle was still completely stuck.
A structural engineer from Torridge District Council was called in to assess the building before the lorry was eventually moved.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said the house had suffered "minimal damage".
During the incident 28 tons of sand were dropped onto the road, which was removed with the help of local farmers.
