Motorists were forced to take a 23-mile diversion after a section of road collapsed into floodwater in North Devon. The unsafe B3226 was closed in both directions between the Parklands junction in South Molton and the A377 junction near Elstone. Police said the road surface had suffered a "very deep" collapse on one side of the carriageway in the George Nympton area, on the Kings Nympton side. Police and council highways crews closed the road after a member of the public contacted the emergency services reporting it had collapsed at around 12.10pm. Drivers are now being diverted via Witheridge.
