A busy road closed for more than ten days by flooding has been reopened after an inspection.

The A361 between East Lyng and Burrowbridge was shut due to heavy rainfall on the Somerset Levels causing flooding across the carriageway.

Parts of the road, which links Taunton and Ashcott and is one of the main thoroughfares for commuters and visitors to Street and Glastonbury, were left totally under water.

A number of drivers had to be rescued after ignoring the road closure signs and then getting stranded in the water.
