A PLYMOUTH restaurant is heralding the start of the lobster season with an admission free event today.

The Lobsterfest 2009 at the Waterfront Bar and Restaurant on Grand Parade, West Hoe, is the ultimate celebration of the tasty crustacean.

The event, from midday until 8.30pm, combines food and music, with popular bands including Nick the Fish, Diamond Geezers, Joey the Lips. Thomas Ford and the Dirty Harmony's and Mad Dog McCrae performing on the outdoor decking overlooking Plymouth Sound.

Owner Steve Bowen said he hoped the event would be as popular as their Mad Lobster Monday promotions.
