Royal Marine charged with wounding woman

A Royal Marine has appeared in court accused of maliciously wounding a woman.

Martin Edwards, aged 37, faced Plymouth magistrates charged with causing grievous bodily harm to his partner without intent on September 16.

Edwards, whose address was given as 42 Commando at Bickleigh Barracks, indicated “no plea” to the allegation.

Jenny Cater, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said the allegation was one of domestic violence.

Magistrates ruled that the case should be heard at Plymouth Crown Court.

Edwards was bailed on condition he does not contact the woman while papers are prepared for a judge.

He must return to face magistrates on February 5, when prosecutors hope the case will be sent to the senior court.
