Royal Navy enjoy Argyle Ladies battle
THE Royal Navy's best women footballers went down all guns blazing when they took on Plymouth Argyle Ladies.
A friendly between the two sides was an exciting clash, but saw the services side sunk 3-0.
The game at Devonport Naval Base was a warm-up for the inter-services tournament involving teams from the RAF and Army in March.
Devonport-based Petty Officer Lisa Farthing, a Physical Trainer at HMS Drake and member of the Royal Navy Ladies squad, said: "This was a good challenge for us.
"Plymouth Argyle Ladies play weekly in the South West Combination League – we only get together as a team every three weeks.
"This was the first time we have hosted Argyle Ladies for several years. We would like to think they will host us next season at Home Park."
Watching from the stands was Rear Admiral Clive Johnstone, , Flag Officer Sea Training, who is president of the Royal Navy Football Association.
