Newton Abbot concludes its season today with a seven-race card and a novices' hurdle over 2m 1f kicks off proceedings.

Ten go to post, including the quirkily named Rudanphast. Peter Bowen's charge ran out an easy winner of a bumper at Hereford in August, staying on well to record a one and a quarter length win over Salford Rose in a 15-runner race. This is his first start over hurdles, and if he's schooled well he should go close.

Amazing Request is a standing dish at Newton Abbot, having appeared four times this season at the course. Today he runs in the 2m 1f novices' hurdle and, having got closest on his latest outing at the track nearly three weeks ago, will be popular with regulars at the track.

Jim Best has opted to put blinkers on Sunset Boulevard for the first time and it will be interesting to see how he runs on his first appearance for the East Sussex-based trainer.

Caheerloch has won his last two starts here and he lines up for more in the long distance handicap hurdle. He's gone up some 11lb since his first success on August 10 and, if that puts the stoppers on him, Strumble Head may be worth a second look. He was a beaten favourite at the course just over two weeks ago but that run could be down to several jumping errors which would not have aided his chances. He has stepped up a full mile in distance but Peter Bowen obviously thinks he has the stamina to complete.

Nigel Twiston-Davies and his son Sam have proved a formidable team over the summer months and it could pay to side with Moulin de La Croix in the 2m 5f handicap chase. The gelding was a beaten favourite at Southwell in August but he was badly hampered at the fourth fence which would not have helped his confidence. Given more luck in running, he looks the one to beat here.

Paul Nicholls has trained his usual swathe of winners this summer and Tignello could add to the haul in the 2m 1f handicap hurdle.

He did not get the run of the race last time out at Hereford and he lost out by a nose to Freedom Fire, but he can make amends here.

January has his first run for Liam Cocoran in the 2m handicap chase and Tony McCoy is in the saddle again, having won on him at Southwell three weeks ago.

A 2m 6f handicap hurdle concludes the summer season at Newton Abbot and Am I Blue will be a warm order to follow up an easy win at Hereford on Wednesday. She carries a 7lb penalty but should go close.

Dual Ladbrokes World Hurdle winner Big Bucks, who this year was voted the South West Racing Club's Horse of the Year as well as Jumps Horse of the Year, will be on parade to mark the end of the season.
