Rugby club seeks permission to expand
PROPOSALS for a new viewing area to allow spectators greater opportunities to watch and enjoy the fixtures of the town's rugby team have been unveiled.
Tiverton Rugby Club has submitted an application to create an extension and convert the existing lobby at its Coronation Ground into a viewing area.
In documents submitted to Mid Devon District Council, the club states the proposed extension and refurbishment will "allow and improve the access for all users into the clubhouse from the pitch side" and allow junior members their own access into the clubhouse without crossing through the bar area.
The club says the extension will provide a dedicated committee room that can be used at anytime without disturbing a letting in the main hall.

The statement said: "The whole extension can also be used by the community as a lettable function suite.
"This proposal is required to allow the club to foster its fast-growing and very popular junior section and allow them their own meeting space within the club away from the bar areas."
The club says the proposed extension will not impact upon the existing building.
