Rural award for Nearly Naked Ben
A Devon "foodie" is celebrating winning a regional enterprise award. Avonwick-based Nearly Naked Veg, run by Ben Brunning, won the South West title in the Countryside Alliance Awards.
Founded two years ago, the company delivers fruit, vegetable and meat boxes.
Judge Alison Hawes said: "This is an excellent two-year-old initiative where vegetable boxes are sold direct from Ben Brunning's farm.
"You can even get your Sunday roast joint sent with your veg for the weekend, which has become incredibly popular."
The Butcher Award has gone to Bonner's of Ilminster, Somerset. Alison said: "The warmth of the welcome at Bonner's was as highly recommended to us as the quality of the meat, and one fan of the shop even said they would not even consider buying meat from anywhere else, which is high praise.
The two now go to the national finals of the awards.
