Rural food delivery firm wins award
A FOOD producer has won a regional Enterprise Award in the Countryside Alliance Awards.
Nearly Naked Veg is run by Ben Brunning, from Newton Ferrers. It was founded in 2009 and delivers fruit, vegetable and meat boxes to the South Hams and Plymouth.
Mr Brunning also owns the Turtley Corn Mill inn in South Brent, and is behind the Finnygook Inn in Crafthole, The Bridge at Mount Batten and Surf n Turf restaurant in Plymouth's Sutton Harbour.
Nearly Naked Veg will now go to the British finals of the Countryside Alliance Awards.
The awards celebrate the characters, produce, traditions and enterprise of the countryside.
Head judge Alison Hawes said: "This is an excellent two-year-old initiative where vegetable boxes are sold direct from Ben Brunning's farm.
"Everything sold is locally produced and the company has big plans to link up with other local producers, making Nearly Naked Veg a true enterprise with a lot to offer."
