Homes lose power after pylon fire near M5 in Exeter
Commuters using the M5 near Exeter were delayed this morning after an electricity pylon caught fire in a field, knocking out power to nearby homes.
The fire service reported the incident adjacent to the M5 at Poltimore bridge at around 5am and sent one crew from Cullompton to attend for safety reasons.

Western Power engineers, including the Highways Agency, were called to the scene to isolate the supply to the pylon, which they say developed a fault.
A spokeswoman for Western Power said: "A telegraph pole beside the M5 developed a fault early this morning leaving 100 customers in the Poltimore area without power."
