On the 21st of February shockwaves were felt throughout the regional arts scene in Somerset as The Brewhouse Theatre in Taunton unexpectedly fell into administration.

With little notice both audiences and artists were left in disarray when after a sold out show the management announced the doors would be closing for the very last time.

Since the 21st of February administrators have since moved in, and are now trying to seek a solution to ensure the venue proceeds into the future.

In the meantime Artists and Audiences have been left high and dry, with some Promoters and Tour Managers still not even receiving a phone call of apology, and audiences not knowing what is going to happen to their tickets, money or shows.

However, there is some light at the end of the tunnel as Bridgwater's Junction24, has come to the rescue for a second time in less than ten days to offer alternative space to make sure a show goes ahead.

Junction24 first rescued comedian Mark Thomas' show only one day after the closure, and now they have pulled the stops out again to make sure that Folk Singer Songwriter Kathryn Tickell can perform to her audience on the same day, at the same time, as her original show on March 13th.

Kathryn Tickell is without doubt the foremost exponent of the Northumbrian pipes, a composer, performer and successful recording artist whose work is deeply rooted in the landscape and the people of Northumbria.

Kathryn also works collaboratively across many genres, making her work contemporary and exciting. She first took up the Northumbrian small pipes at the age of nine, learning in the traditional way. Taking inspiration from shepherd musicians in outlying hill farms near her home, and after a little help from

Junction 24 her brand new show "Voices from Northumbria" will now go ahead.

"We couldn't stand back and watch our regional audiences loose out when they had paid cold hard cash to see the show" States Marketing & Events Manager Patch Jobson. "It goes without saying that we, as many others are, incredibly sad to see The Brewhouse go, but the way in which audiences and artists have just been left out in the cold is disgraceful, we were simply left with no other choice, but to try and help.

We've been in contact with many promoters, and although I cannot make any promises, we are committed to trying to bring as many of the shows as possible to Junction24 so they can still deliver to their audiences."

After many phones calls, and emails Kathryn's rescheduled show will now take place on Wednesday March 13th at 7.45pm at Junction 24. In an incredible move Kathryn has agreed, in partnership with Junction24 that all tickets from The Brewhouse will be honoured, and for those who did not get a chance to purchase tickets in time an additional release will be available from the 28th of February at www.junction24ltd.co.uk. Doors open for the event one hour before at 6.45pm.

Junction24 management have also stated that audience members should not panic if they did not receive their tickets from The Brewhouse, all they ask is for some form of proof of purchase and admission will be granted.

"We really do hope that this will go some way to making sure peoples plan's to see Kathryn and her superb band are not upset" states Patch "in societies current situation of austerity it's vitally important that we all still have something to look forward to, and Kathryn's Northumbria Voices is within that category, and as a venue, we have a responsibility to maintain that!"
