Saints stumble as Riley's open up eight-point lead

RILEY'S Q increased their lead to eight points as they pasted Mid Devon Cons A 6-0.

Alan Tunney compiled a 79 clearance - and a break of 39 - whilst James Lee scored a break of 41 and Ed Armitage scored a break of 30.

Second-placed St Anne's F fell further behind the leaders as they drew 3-3 with fifth-placed Upton Social A.

The match could have gone either way as four frames was decided on the final black.

Riley's A stayed in third place, but slipped further behind the leaders, as they had their free week.

Martin Makinen scored a break of 32 in the second frame, but could not stop fourth-placed St Anne's B losing 4-2 to Central Cons C.

It was Central's second win of the season to move up to sixth place.

Eighth-placed Brixham Cons A recovered from their mauling last week as Alan Wheatley compiled a break of 45 to lead his side to a 4-2 win over Teignmouth RBL A.

The Legion have slipped into the relegation places despite Andy Hill scoring breaks of 44 and 54 to win his two frames.

Preston Cons B moved out of the relegation places as they rode their luck to beat bottom side Preston Cue F 4-2.

DIVISION ONE

RILEY'S E stretched their lead at the top to seven points as they beat sixth-placed Paignton Cons A 5-1. Lee Curtis won his frame, as he beat Ray Little to end his 100 per cent record after 18 frames.

Second-placed Preston Cue G lost ground on the leaders as they had a free week, but now have a game in hand over the leaders and will look to close the gap this week as it is Riley's who have the free week.

Andy Smythe compiled a break of 25 in the opening frame as Torquay Squash A moved up a place to third as they beat eighth-placed Palace Place B 4-2.

Torquay Squash D slipped a place to fourth as they lost to seventh-placed Preston Cue E, who won for only the third time this season.

Torquay Squash C stayed in fifth place as they walloped Torquay Squash B 6-0, who are four points adrift of safety from relegation having played a game more than their nearest rivals.

Bottom of the table Preston Cons C recorded their third win of the season as they beat ninth-placed Brixham RBL A 5-1, for whom Dan Lewis won their only frame with a break of 32 to go top of the Breakmasters.

DIVISION TWO

JOHN Nugent had breaks of 22, 25 and a 27 clearance in the final two frames as unbeaten leaders Riley's Z came from 3-1 down to keep their five-point advantage at the top as they drew 3-3 with second-placed Brixham Cons B.

Third-placed Teignmouth RBL B took advantage of the top two meeting as they closed the gap to the promotion places as Dave Lomax scored a break of 22 in the final frame as they beat bottom side Preston Cue C 5-1. Dan Houldsworth won Preston's only frame to avoid the whitewash.

John Alberici compiled a break of 22 in the fourth frame as Kirkham Street A stayed in fourth place as they won the final frame to draw 3-3 with eighth placed Riley's D.

Roundham B stayed in fifth place as they came from behind to draw 3-3 with tenth-placed St Marychurch Cons B.

Preston Cue D moved up a place to sixth as they won the final two frames to draw 3-3 with ninth-placed Hookhills B. Preston Cue H slipped a place to seventh as they had a free week.
