Sandford bow out of league with a defeat
SANDFORD lost their final Premier Division game for at least 12 months when they were beaten by 170 runs at home to North Devon on Saturday.
The Instow side scored 246 for five and then bundled the Creedy Park men out or just 76, 27 of which were scored by Bob Eames. Sandford finish bottom, 50 points from safety.
Bradninch ended their A Division season with a 30-run home defeat by Plymstock.
The visitors racked up 178 for nine, with Bradninch's Rob Acton taking five for 23. Acton (30) then top scored in the reply, which finished on 148 all out.
There was despair in the B Division for Heathcoat, who did their bit in seeing off Bideford, but a win for Chudleigh meant they missed out on promotion by six points.
Andrew Burt-Mitchell with 33 helped Heathcoat to 181, before Bideford were bowled out for 163, with Dylan Penberthy taking four for 40.
But there was relief for Shobrooke Park, whose win against Clyst St George meant they stayed up at their opponents' expense.
Shobrooke banked maximum batting points with a total of 200 for three and then they bundled the Bohea Field men out for 128.
Park opted not to strengthen their team with first-teamers, but they were in trouble at 17 for three. That was until Jamie Rose joined dad Pete at the crease and the pair added an unbeaten 183, with Pete finishing on 70 and Jamie 75.
Mark Goodman then claimed six wickets at Clyst were skittled.
Thorverton finished their C Division campaign in style, banking maximum points at Cornwood III to finish fourth.
Jock Spry took two wickets to take his tally to 58 in the league this year as Cornwood were bowled out for 180.
Alan Tait then struck a superb 101 as the Thors won by eight wickets.
Clyst Hydon applied a polished finish to their D Division East title-winning season as they beat fellow promoted side Tiverton & Bickleigh by just 15 runs.
Rob O'Connell (41), Nick Hodgin (35) and Rick Martin (34) combined to see Clyst to 212 in 44.1 overs.
Ed Strong took five for 69 for the visitors, who were then bowled out for 197. Richard Watson hit 84 and Ben Schofield 41.
Kentisbeare were beaten by five wickets by visiting Exeter III, who closed the game out on 200 for five in reply to the Kents' 199 for nine.
Cullompton bowled hosts Seaton out for a paltry 87, but still ended up losing by five runs. Steve Jones claimed five for 17 in the Seaton innings, but the Cully batsmen also struggled, with only Gareth Heale (42) impressing as they were bowled out for 82.
