Santas set for a 4km fun run
THE annual Santa Fun Run is drawing closer with bearded impersonators set to tackle a 4km course.
Shoppers will find themselves among a sea of sacks, beards and red suits in the city centre on Sunday December 9, 2012 as the third annual event takes place.
In 2010 almost 500 people of all ages took part and in 2011 this increased to almost 700 people.
This year organisers are hoping this will increase to 1,000 festive fanatics.

Organiser Roger Punch said: "We want people to enter and raise as much money for the charities as they can as well as having fun at the same time.
"If people can treat it as their Christmas charity that would be tremendous, and of course they'll be having lots of fun at the same time.
"The look on peoples faces when the santas are running through the streets is fantastic and as they set off, hundreds of santas are all smiling at the same time, it's really lovely."
The charities selected this year are Diabetes UK, Dame Hannah Rogers School and CHICKS, which provides country holidays for inner city children.
The main route is approximately 4k long and starts at the top of Cornwall Street, between the Drake Circus shopping centre and the Central Hall, the route then follows a circular course through Cornwall Street, New George Street, Armada Way, through Drake Circus and finishes in Frankfurt Gate.
There is also a mini route that is approximately 2.5k long for entrants aged 6 - 11 years old or as a shorter route for adults.
The start is in the same place but a few minutes later than the main run and will be half the distance, which also finishes at Frankfurt Gate.
Completion medals will be distributed for all santas who have taken part.
