Scooters could be a knock-out
I AM sure that like myself, Gazette readers will have noticed an increase in mobility scooters zooming along Tivvy's pavements, and who could fail to be impressed by the dexterity of mainly elderly ladies manoeuvring around supermarket aisles, skilfully avoiding shoppers, static trolleys, and other obstacles?
We all take mobility for granted and its great that residents who are not so fortunate, can have their freedom of movement at least partially restored, but why do so many of these scooters look like they have been designed by Fred Flintstone?
Surely, manufacturers could borrow a design consultant from one of the major car producer, or maybe a national newspaper could run a design competition and award prizes for the best efforts.
Then, by way of consolation, should you have the misfortune to be knocked flat on your back by a novice scooter driver, while lying there awaiting for an ambulance you could admire the graceful lines of the bodywork, and the elegance of the cleverly sculpted alloy wheel resting against your head!
