Seek cardiac care as soon as possible
I WRITE to highlight cardiac care provision in Plymouth. My heart attack came without any warning just before Christmas. Following a very early morning admittance and immediate diagnosis, the cardiac team were contacted and successfully completed my Primary Angioplasty (stent) operation within a matter of hours – a critical factor in reducing long-term heart damage to a minimum.
Two days of careful monitoring in Torcross ward, followed by remedial care in Bickleigh Ward resulted in my discharge. Within a matter of hours the next phase of care was initiated through a home visit by the Cardiac Rehab Team.
I am sure I speak for many who have experienced similar good fortune. I thank, most sincerely, Dr Haywood and Dr K El Shamouty, Derriford Nursing Staff and the Rehab Team for their dedication, care and support.
A final note, delay in seeking medical attention with regard to cardiac difficulties can be costly. Check it out as early as possible.
