Shared prayers on city issues
PRAY Plymouth is a gathering of Christians from many churches to pray about issues facing the city.
They meet every Wednesday morning at 7am at the Open Doors Language School, Greenbank. Each week a different speaker will come and explain their perspective and work in and around Plymouth.
Groups are then formed to pray deeply over the information that has been shared. This is followed at 8am by a fellowship breakfast. Visitors have included church and ministry leaders, people from the Council, police, NHS, media, business and many more. It is a great source of relevant information about city life, and Christians there see many answers to their prayers. Anyone interested in joining the group or getting more details, ring Graham on 704201. Amen!

In Romans 8v16, we read, "God's Spirit joins himself to our spirits to declare that we are God's children."
This amazing verse shows how much our creator God wants to be part of our lives. Humans are the only ones in all God's creation that are born with a spirit. They are described the world over as 'incurably religious'. And if it isn't recognised religion, it's superstition, horoscopes, meditation, hallucinations etc etc etc. Only humans have creative forethought, like an architect designing their reality; only humans have laughter, dance, art; a sense of the eternal, the divine, a destiny – expressions of the creative spark breathed into our species by a creative God. "And the Lord God formed man out of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life". Genesis 2v7.
God made us in this unique way because He wanted to live with us in a unique way – joining His Holy Spirit with our mortal spirit, and enabling us to become His children.
The rough and tumble of the world can cause us to doubt this. Hardships cause us to say, "I'm a victim, I'm a nobody, I'm an outsider, I'm a mistake, I'm useless, I'm bad. But stand firm in the identity God gave you as His child, and be assured of an eternal welcome being prepared for us.
