Sheridan lands Plymouth Argyle job
NEW Plymouth Argyle manager John Sheridan says he is confident he can guide the struggling Devon club out of the League Two relegation places.
The former Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday player watched from the stands at Port Vale on Saturday as his new team were beaten 4-0.

"I am very confident I can get us out of the position we are in if everyone – the players and fans – work together," said Sheridan.
Sherdian, who was sacked as manager of Chesterfield earlier this season, added that he was honoured to take over at Home Park.

"I am very privileged to get this opportunity to manage the club," said Sheridan.
"Everyone I've talked to says what a good club it is and what potential there is.
"I remember the support from the fans when I played down here with Leeds and Oldham, and that was one of the things that attracted me."
Sheridan takes over from Carl Fletcher, who was sacked as Argyle boss on New Year's Day having won just once in 15 games.
Meanwhile, fellow strugglers Bristol Rovers have been dealt a blow with the news that Garry Kenneth will be out for nine months after rupturing knee ligaments.
The 25-year-old was taken off at half-time in their 2-0 defeat to Gillingham on Saturday and it has been confirmed that he will miss the rest of the season.
Rovers manager John Ward said he would be looking to bring in cover for Kenneth, who joined from Dundee United in the summer on a three-year deal.
Rovers are due to face Exeter City in just over a week's time on Saturday, January 19.
Port Vale have boosted their promotion hopes by signing veteran striker Lee Hughes.
The 36-year-old, who played at West Bromwich Albion at the height of his career, left Notts County by mutual consent on Monday. He is the third signing for Vale since the transfer window reopened, following short-term deals agreed for Chris Birchall and former Plymouth Argyle player Darren Purse.
