Shoppers can park in Torbay for just £1 this weekend
HAPPY shoppers will be able to park in Torbay for £1 this weekend.
The initiative between the Herald Express and Torbay Council aims to attract more shoppers back into the high streets of our three main towns.

A special voucher has been printed in this week's paper.
Anyone who displays the Herald Express permit on their dashboard — alongside a £1 ticket for 40 minutes, which can be bought from the pay and display machines — will be able to stay all day in any of the 17 main car parks across Torbay.

They can also stay up to three hours in the Brixham central car park.
The offer applies on Saturday, September 1, and Sunday, September 2, and coincides with the children going back to school.
An appeal went out for changes to parking policies, with traders claiming they were driving motorists and shoppers away from town centres.
The tickets are transferable between the different named car parks, so you could start the day in one town and finish it in the other.
The car parks accepting the Herald Express permit (with the £1 parking ticket) are:
Brixham: central (for a maximum stay of three hours with permit displayed) Oxen Cove and Freshwater
Paignton: Victoria Centre, Station Lane, Crown and Anchor, Churchward Road and Preston Gardens
Torquay: Chilcote Close, St Marychurch, Hampton Avenue, Princes Street, Beacon Quay, Meadfoot Road, Union Square, Lower Union Lane, Town Hall, and Brunswick Square.

“Wow! I'll just nip into Torquay town centre and buy... what exactly? I know... a house, a mobile phone and something from a charity shop. For that shopping experience £1 to park seems 100p too much.”
