COULD you be the next town crier of Tiverton? If you think you've got what it takes to take up the hand bell and wear the tricorn hat, Tiverton Town Council want to hear from you – literally.
This Saturday the town is hosting its annual town crier's competition in Phoenix Lane from noon.
Tiverton's current town crier Frank Housam is keen to recruit an apprentice crier to pass on some of the skills of the ancient tradition.
Criers from across the region who are members of the Ancient and Honourable Guild of Town Criers deliver their calls in the presence of the Mayor and Mayoress of the town at the event.
