Showcasing exotic plants across Bay
GARDENS showcasing the best plants for the Bay's microclimate are opening for the National Garden Scheme.
The exotic garden at 4 Wellswood Heights, Higher Erith Road, Wellswood and Southern Comfort at Meadfoot Sea Road, Torquay, will open on Sunday from 2pm until 5pm.
The Wellswood Heights Garden will also be open tomorrow from 3pm until 7pm.
Sue Tiller, of Wellswood Heights, said: "Both gardens attempt to show how exotic plants can be grown successfully in the Torbay area — on a large scale at the Southern Comfort garden and in a limited space at the Wellswood Heights garden.
"Both gardens boast a range of palms, bamboos, aloes, succulents and bananas to name just a few and the Wellswood Heights garden has many plants in pots and a 40ft jungle border."
There will be plants for sale at both gardens and home made teas at the Wellswood Heights garden.
Admission is £2.50 for each garden and there will be a joint admission ticket on Sunday for £4.
