The Hayes Golden Button Challenge, the Ledbury's New Year's Eve hunt ride, has been postponed due to snow and ice.

Heavy snowfall in Gloucestershire and surrounding counties on Monday prompted the decision to put back the event, which was due to be held on New Year's Eve and is now scheduled for January 15.

Organisers were concerned that many horses have been confined to limited exercise by poor weather and would not be ready for the three-mile contest.

Sixty horses have entered and all entries stand, but competitors who were unable to compete on New Year's Eve and would like to take part on January 15 should contact race secretary Louise Daly (07721 956599).
