Solar scheme may win award
MID Devon District Council has been shortlisted for an award for its work installing solar panels on council homes.
At the end of last year, photovoltaic solar panels were installed on around a third of council properties.
The South West Green Energy Awards are organised by Regen SW. The council is being recognised under the 'most proactive public sector body' category. In addition, the council is being recognised for installing solar panels on the roofs of its main corporate buildings.
There are five other local authorities in the same category as the council. Judging for the award is due to take place early next month, and presentations will be made in November.
