Sports awards comeback
THE Express & Echo sports awards will return next year.
The event, which was staged for the first time in January, will take place at Exeter's Rougemont Hotel, Queen Street, on February 11, 2013.
The inaugural Express & Echo Sports Awards saw the cream of the region's sporting talent celebrate the success of a host of unsung heroes as well as the professionals at Exeter City and Chiefs.
Echo editor Andy Phelan said: "The awards got off to a great start earlier this year but we are confident next year's event is going to be even better.

"We have listened to what people had to say about how we could improve the evening and we believe we have got a fantastic event lined up. It will be a celebration of sporting success from community clubs to the London 2012 Olympics."
The headline sponsor of the awards is Ivor Doble jewellers, who are also putting their name to the prestigious Sports Personality of the Year award.
Mr Doble said: "Having been a citizen of Exeter city all my life, I am proud to be associated with the Sports Awards 2013 and the achievements gained in all the categories."
As well as Ivor Doble, other organisations already on board include Exeter College, which is sponsoring the Sports Teacher and Young Sports Personality of the Year awards, and the Pavey Group, sponsor of the Business Contribution to Sport award.
