Kate has been offered a nursing job at Derriford Hospital, but on the condition of her passing her degree – however since this incident she is worried about whether this will still stand.

Geoffrey Gunning, Kate’s dad, is appealing to anyone who has any information to come forward.

He said: “She’s been working so hard and now she has nothing to show for it, the poor girl is desperate.”

A police spokesperson said: “It has been reported that a Vauxhall Corsa was broken into while parked on a driveway of Badgers Close in Ivybridge.

“Anyone with information should call police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 quoting crime reference number JI/123/77.”

“Surely Adult Nursing doesn't need 5000 words to describe it?
I should imagine the sentence-"Just give 'em their meds, their dinner and their bedpans on time to keep 'em sweet and you're laughing" sums it up.”

“People should stop making inappropriate comments, yes they should not have both been in the car but this is a student nurse who is so close to finishing and for something like this to happen is awful.
My parents were lucky enough to be treated by Kate after she came accross their car shortly after they were in a crash and without her brave actions my father would not be alive today. This could really not of happened to a nicer young lady and I hope that whoever stole these items returns them.”

“It should be obvious to anyone not to leave a laptop in the car and to leave the back up there as well is really foolish. This lesson has been learned the hard way but I hoipe she gets it back.”

“Storing the original and the backup together was a bit silly wasn't it?”

“I see the usual morons are out commenting. Instead of having a go at some low-life stealing stuff that doesn't belong to him they'll have a go at a hard-working student nurse who lost her work.”

“First rule of doing anything important on a PC or Laptop is to back it up and store it somewhere away from the PC so it is safe. Second rule with a laptop is not to leave it in your car!

It has never been easier to back up important data, even mobile phones these days can hold masses of information - surely students using laptops are told this whilst on etheir courses over and over again.

Looks like Kate is learning lifes lessons the hard way - you might just as well say the dog ate it.”
