Director and drama teacher, Anna Ruscoe, said: "Our students have to pull out all the stops: they need to, not only master an extremely complicated vocal score, but also impress the audience through the power of their acting and stage presence.

"Rehearsals are proving to be fun and rewarding due to our talented principals, cast and orchestra. The staging demands, although complicated, have so far been successfully met due to the incredible support from our team of volunteers.  I believe it will be a fabulous show and the audience will not be disappointed. Who could expect anything less from our gifted students?"

The production, performed entirely by the students, will feature spectacular performances, talented musicians, beautiful costumes and fantastic sets and lighting.

One of the students, Becky Walker who plays Mrs Lovett, said: "As the rehearsals get longer and more frequent, the cast is becoming closer - laughs are being shared and memories are being made. It has been an exciting journey for everyone: learning more about ourselves, gaining confidence and making new friendships – all of which are important when being part of such a difficult, yet amazing, production.

"I feel privileged being in 'Sweeney' and working with the most talented group of students you could ever wish to be with."
