Students can get their act together on a new course at UCP Marjon
THE curtain has gone up in an actors' training company this month.
The Actor's Wheel, a BA (Hons) course at UCP Marjon, aims to develop "well-rounded, intelligent actors" through using university study, drama school discipline and rep company vocational training.
The students will take part in practically taught modules, which give actors the opportunity to create their own material and gain knowledge of the industry, and skills classes to develop their craft.
The rep company aspect is taught through the actors being cast in a professionally produced and directed theatre production to be toured under the company name The Actor's Wheel.

In year one the company performs regionally, year two in a short international tour and in year three nationally with opportunities to showcase work to agents and casting directors.
Each student will finish their degree with a working CV, touring experience, a show reel, professional contacts, as lecturers are working professionals, and a broad knowledge of the acting industry.
The course has been designed by Kevin Johnson, an actor and theatre director who moved to Plymouth from London six years ago.
He said: "This is an exciting new opportunity to train as an actor in a small working company.
"This unique touring training company is lucky to have working links with Theatre Royal Plymouth and The Barbican Theatre and we can't wait to extend and strengthen our relationships nationally and internationally."
Mr Johnson is artistic director for Symbiotic Theatre.
