Stunning photograph snaps up South West Coast Path competition
This breathtaking view of the Devon coast has beaten hundreds of entrants to win the South West Coast Path's annual photographic competition.
The image – looking across Start Bay with ewes grazing in a snow-covered foreground – was taken by local photographer Nick Shepherd.

It was chosen by award- winning photographer Adam Burton and will now appear on the front of the South West Coast Path's 2014 calendar.
"This was an absolute standout favourite for me by a country mile," Mr Burton said. "It has everything – a great view, beautiful subject matter and conditions, strong composition and wonderful rich light."

Mr Shepherd, who regularly walks the coast path with his border collie Beth, said: "I particularly wanted to capture the dramatic sweep of the bay with Start Point lighthouse in the distance, and the sheep and snow offered me the perfect foreground.
"I have been taking photos for 37 years, and particularly like photographing the power of dramatic winter seas."
Cornish Cottage Holidays, Cicerone Press, Francis Lincoln publishers and the South West Coast Path Association all donated prizes for the competition. The calendar will go on sale this summer and will be available from the South West Coast Path Association's website and other regional retail outlets including WH Smith.
A proportion of the sale price from each calendar goes towards coast path improvements. To see all the stunning pictures selected for the 2014 edition visit www.southwestcoastpath.com/calendar14.
