Success of tourism and hospitality awards
A GLITTERING celebration was enjoyed by Wollen Michelmore staff and guests at the inaugural English Riviera and South Devon Tourism and Hospitality Awards.
The leading South Devon law firm was the headline sponsor of the awards and the event which drew 270 top industry representatives to the Riviera Centre.

Wollen Michelmore managing partner, Chris Hart, said: "The number of tickets sold for the event was truly fantastic given the current economic climate. The support and the numbers bear testament to the need for an event like this to celebrate the success of the tourism and hospitality industry across South Devon."
During the evening, guests enjoyed performances from the cast of Babbacombe Theatre's West End Now, and guest speaker, comedian and writer Peter Richardson, entertained the audience with his stories of dining with Paul McCartney and working with Nigel Planer to create the character of Neil in The Young Ones.

However, the highlight of the evening was the presentation of the awards including the overall Best Tourism and Hospitality Business of the Year which went to the Royal Seven Star Hotel in Totnes.
Chris Hart added: "Whilst we know that the exceptionally bad weather this summer will mean we won't see the overall growth in visitor numbers that we saw last year, we do know that the work that is being done across our English Riviera and South Devon region is resulting in a much stronger performance than in the rest of the South West peninsula."
