Support for staff losing jobs at St Margaret's School in Exeter
A campaign has been launched to save an Exeter school which announced its closure at the end of January.
St Margaret’s School in Magdalen Road, St Leonard’s, will close on August 31 at the end of the current academic year.

The independent school was founded in 1902 and is a leading independent school in Exeter educating boys aged 3–11 and girls aged 3–18 years.
The school, which has 214 pupils and is currently ranked fourth in the GCSE result league tables in Devon, has blamed low forecasts for new pupils for the closure.

A number of parents have expressed concerns about the move, which came shortly after the launch of a three-year recovery plan, while others are mounting a campaign to see it continue as a Free School.
There is also anger that the announcement came after fees, which range from £1,783 per term in reception to £3,548 in years eight to 11, had been collected for the spring term.
With parents having to give a full terms’ notice if their child wishes to leave, it means anyone currently enrolled at the school will also have to pay for the summer term.
Helen Taylor, ATL regional official for Devon, said: “It will be incredibly sad to see St Margaret’s School close.
“We are disappointed that the school has not consulted the staff about the closure, as it is legally required to do, thereby reducing any opportunity to investigate alternatives to closure.
“ATL will now do all it can to make sure its members get any payments to which they are legally entitled.
“ATL will also provide support to any staff that need to find other jobs.”
