Surfers Against Sewage is holding beach cleans at Saunton and Woolacombe
SURFERS Against Sewage is calling for volunteers to help pick up litter at two of North Devon's most treasured beaches.
The organisation is heading for Saunton and Woolacombe on Saturday, November 17.
So far this autumn SAS has been joined by almost 500 volunteers and removed more than one tonne of marine litter from the coastline around the country.
Volunteers are asked to meet at the foot of Saunton slipway for the beach clean, which runs from 10.30am–12.30pm and at Woolacombe, by the stream, for its event from 1pm–3pm.

There has been an alarming 100 per cent increase in the amount of man-made items washing up on the coastline over the last 20 years.
The majority of marine litter consists of plastic items such as drinks bottles, carrier bags, fishing line and sewage-related debris.
More than 100,000 marine mammals and turtles, and more than 1 million seabirds, die every year from ingestion of and entanglement in marine litter.
