Tamar bridge and ferry tolls could rise by 13 per cent for Plymouth commuters
TAMAR bridge and ferry tolls could go up by 13per cent in April next year.
And regular users could be hit with a monthly charge for the pre-paid tag.

The increase could mean that car drivers face having to pay another 20p for crossing the river into Plymouth.
The existing toll is £1.50, or 75p for people with a Tamar Tag.

“I'm afraid you are incorrect Jabba. In my entire life I only claimed Job seeker's allowance once, that was for a period of less than 12 months and a decade ago. I have received no other benefits. I pay plenty of tax and hopefully will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

The fact is that the bridge was built by PCC and CCC as a toll bridge to be operated alongside the Torpoint ferry. Before the bridge existed you would have had to take a more expensive ferry or drive around.
If you live in Saltash but work in Plymouth that was your own choice and you knew full well that the tolls would go up.
So yes, I think the Ferry and Bridge should both pay for themselves through charging the people who use them. What could be fairer than that?”
