Tamsin returns to moor roots for charity concert
A world renowned violinist will be returning to her Exmoor roots when she performs a concert in Dulverton in April.
Tamsin Waley-Cohen, whose family home is in the national park, will be bringing classical music group the Honeymead Ensemble to the town for a charity concert.
Tamsin, who formed the Ensemble in 2007, performs as a soloist with orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and will be joined by prize-winning cellist Bartholomew LaFollette and pianist Tom Poster, who features regularly on BBC Radio Three as a soloist and chamber musician.
Their repertoire will include two piano trios – Robert Schumann's piano trio in F Major and Beethoven’s last trio The Archduke.
The concert will start at 7.30pm on Friday, April 20, at Dulverton Church in aid of the Calvert Trust and Devon and Somerset Hunt Club.
The concert is being sponsored by legal firm Ashfords as part of a trio of concerts by the ensemble which also includes shows in Exeter and Taunton.
Stephen Walker, a partner at Ashfords Solicitors, said: “We are very proud to support the Honeymead Ensemble, which always attracts extremely talented performers, for the third year running. The series enjoyed great success in 2010 and 2011 and we hope that, yet again, the events will raise a substantial amount for worthwhile local causes.”
