An lorry tipped over in Tiverton and leaked Molasses and diesel, closing the road for hours.

The articulated tanker was carrying 20 tonnes of Molasses, a honey-like substance made when cane or beet sugar is processed, and tipped over on the Bolham roundabout joining the A361 in Tiverton.

Two fire crews from Wellington and Taunton were called at 4:48pm yesterday.

Police say the road was blocked on the Barnstaple side of the A361.

The driver was still in the tanker on arrival of emergency crews.

He was kept in the cabin while paramedics assessed his condition.

His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The crews used environmental packs to stem the flow of Molasses leaking from the vehicle.
