CHILDREN from Torpoint Nursery and Infant School are excited about a musical opportunity of a lifetime.

A teacher and a scout leader are hoping to raise £700 to donate to The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.

On Monday March 19, Year 2 children will be going to the Devonport Guildhall to perform with the orchestra where they will be singing two songs that have been specially written for them.

The orchestra has agreed to fund the cost of travel, rehearsals, accommodation of the orchestra, the hire of the Guildhall and the commissioning of the songs by composer James Redwood.

To raise the donation, year two teacher Andy Painter and Torpoint Scout leader Wez Swain, walked 100 miles from Lizard Point to Rame Head along the South West Coast Path this week.

To set themselves a further challenge, they planned to complete the walk in under 48 hours.

The pair have so far raised £577 of the £700 target.
